I'm so ready for fall!
We still have a few weeks left of summer but I am ready for the fall now. I have started putting up Halloween decorations early this year hoping to trick the weather into turning cooler sooner. :) Fall is my favorite season and I love the orange and brown colors that come along with it. It would be extra nice if we could have a rainy fall. I have had enough of this West Texas heat. I have made beyond my share of pillowcase dresses but I think I will make one more using festive Halloween fabric for Ryleigh. And if I have enough left over I will make an outfit for Ryder. I am looking forward to dressing them up in costumes and taking them trick or treating! Last year I had surgery on Halloween so I will have to make up for that by making this year extra fun!

Kerri's Kreations... one of my favorite things!

You most definitely need to check out http://kerriskreations.com. First off, the adorable couture on this site is not only awesome, Kerri is a fabulous person. Her personality and charm are very evident in her emails and her website. Be sure to enter yourself in the monthly contest. I was the lucky winner of the August contest! Yay! She has an pettiskirt tutorial that is awesome. Of course if you don't want to go through the hassle of making your own, buy one of hers because they are too cute and reasonably priced. :)

My favorite things ... post one
MY FAVORITE THINGS!
A new feature is being added to The Clothesline blog! Yay! Aren't you excited? :) Once a week, or more if I feel like it, I will be featuring something I love or that is a favorite of mine. Now I need a catchy name for my favorites...but I can't think of anything right now. Feel free to comment or contact me with a name for this feature!
So on to this weeks favorite thing... confetticakes.com! I have been following Elisa Strauss, the designer/owner of Confetti Cakes, ever since I saw her featured some years ago in a magazine I was reading at my mother's house. She has since been on Food Network's Cake Challenge and a lot of other places. Check out her yummy lookin' cakes on her website. Now I wish dearly that I had this talent. But I don't and maybe it is for the best because with the size of my sweet tooth I would have an equally big sized behind!

skirt du jour
This morning started out a little stressful. And any day that is stressful is a sewing day for me! I love sewing as it calms me and makes me redirect energy, that would be wasted on worry, and lets me get creative.
So I decided to sew my Ryleigh a twirl skirt for the fall. Speaking of autumn, only 20 more days until it is here! The weather is slowly starting to creep out of the three digits (gotta love the Texas heat) and head toward something a little more tolerable. The West Texas Fair and Rodeo is coming soon and that signals the possibility of getting rain! Rain is my absolute favorite weather. It seems to slow down the fast pace of the world and gives me a chance to breathe. I am a firm believe that rain is not only good for the grass, it is good for the soul.
Anyway, back to my twirl skirt. I used three fabrics that I love very much. Pinks and Browns. Delicious. Add dots in the mix and I'm happy. The only problem - it is a very difficult task to get two year old Ryleigh to try anything on. So I finished that and decided to post some things on Etsy. If you have not been to etsy.com I insist you do. I love browsing through all the shops, finding one of a kind treasures made by someones actual hands instead of a mass producing factory. I especially love sorting through the photographs. I found one that captured a vintage bright blue suitcase and instantly fell in love. I didn't buy it. But I should have because now it's gone and I still wish I would have bought it.
